Weight Gain and Pregnancy

Weight gain is one of the natural things that happen during pregnancy, and indeed one of the things that should happen. Stable weight or weight loss may put the health of the fetus at risk or affect its proper growth. At the same time, excessive weight gain also poses a risk to both the pregnant woman and the fetus. Therefore, a pregnant woman should know the normal rate of weight gain for each month of pregnancy in order to monitor whether the increase she has experienced is within a safe range.

Section 02

The total normal rate of weight gain during pregnancy is 12 kg, distributed as follows:

Section 03

The first three months: the rate of weight gain ranges between 0-2 kg.

Section 04

The middle three months: the rate of weight gain is approximately 4 kg.

Section 05

The last three months: the rate of weight gain is approximately 2 kg per month (6 kg for the total of these months).

Section 06

Therefore, a pregnant woman should monitor her weight and the weight of her fetus monthly in order to preserve her health and the health of the fetus.
